Guide
Home based business ideas for women in Pakistan
Six businesses that work from home on cash on delivery, and the decisions around them: fitting orders around family time, selling without your face or personal number, and getting paid into an account in your own name. With the government loan scheme and NTN rules checked on official sites.
Businesses that work from home
Lists of business ideas for women in Pakistan often mix things you can sell with jobs like freelancing or tuition. This guide is only about selling products from home, with cash on delivery, because Pakistani buyers expect to be able to pay that way. Each option below says what it needs and where it goes wrong.
Stitching and boutique
Needs: a machine, a reliable karigar or your own hands, and a size chart in inches. The catch: custom stitching is made to order, so a buyer who refuses a COD parcel leaves you with a suit cut to her measurements. Take an advance on stitched orders. Our Urdu guide to starting a boutique from home covers measurements, fabric buying and pricing. The free size chart maker makes the chart.
Bakery and home food
Needs: a clean kitchen, time on the days before Eid and weddings, and delivery inside your own city. The catch: cakes do not travel by courier, and selling food can need a licence. Ask your provincial food authority before your first sale. The home bakery guide covers costing each piece and labels.
Clothing resale
Needs: a wholesaler you trust, a few designs at a time, and good photos. The catch: everyone sells the same lawn prints from the same markets, so you need your own selection. Unstitched suits have almost no size risk, which makes them the easiest first product on COD.
Artificial jewellery
Needs: a small first batch and a plain background for photos. The catch: plating that tarnishes within weeks brings complaints. Wear a piece yourself for a while before you buy more. Our artificial jewellery business guide has prices, plating and courier rules, and the Urdu online jewellery business guide covers the same ground.
Cosmetics and skincare
Needs: a supplier who sells sealed, labelled stock. The catch: fakes and anything sold with a medical claim. Buyers reorder what works, which is the upside. The cosmetics business guide covers spotting fakes and packing liquids. To sell under your own name, see how to start a cosmetic brand.
Handmade
Embroidered pieces, crochet, resin, candles, hand-painted items. Needs: a product you can make the same way twice. The catch: your hours are the stock. Price your time, not just the material, or the busiest month will pay the least. For resin, our resin art business guide covers curing time, custom orders and packing.
Before you pick, put your cost, courier charge and a returns allowance into the COD profit calculator. For more product ideas with the same checks, read what to sell online in Pakistan. If you have almost nothing to spend yet, see how to start an online business without investment.
Fitting it around family time
The hard part of a home business is often not finding buyers but orders arriving while the house needs you. Set the hours before the orders come.
- Fixed dispatch days. Pack and hand over parcels two or three days a week, and write those days on your page. Buyers accept “dispatched within 3 working days” when they know it in advance.
- Two message windows a day. Reply to orders after the school run and again in the evening. WhatsApp Business has quick replies and an away message, so nobody waits in silence.
- Confirm every COD order by call or message before you pack it. It takes a minute and saves a parcel that would have come back.
- Make or buy in batches. Stitch, bake or photograph on set days instead of one order at a time.
- Stop taking orders before Eid on a date you choose. Write the cut-off date on your page a week ahead.
Selling without showing your face or personal number
Plenty of women sell from home and keep their name, face and number out of it. It takes a few decisions at the start.
- Trade under a brand name. The page, the store and the parcel label carry the brand, not your name. The free shop name generator helps if you have not picked one.
- A separate number for the business. Get a second SIM in your own name and put the WhatsApp Business app on it. It is free, and it works on one number per account, so your personal WhatsApp stays personal. A dual-SIM phone runs both.
- A brand account, not your personal one. Make a new Instagram, Facebook or TikTok account for the brand. Our guide to selling on Instagram in Pakistan covers setting it up. The Instagram bio generator writes the bio.
- Products, not you. Shoot clothes on a hanger, a mannequin or a flat lay; jewellery on a plain cloth; your hands at most. Put your brand on every photo with the watermark tool.
- Pickup from home, address kept off the page. Courier companies collect from your door. PostEx, for one, says on its COD page that it picks parcels up from your doorstep. Write only your city on your page, and give your full address to the courier, not to buyers.
Getting paid into your own account
On cash on delivery the buyer pays the rider, and the courier sends the money on to you. Where it lands matters.
- A bank account in your name. When you open a courier account, it asks for the bank account to send your COD money to. Give one in your own name. Our Urdu guide to opening a courier COD account covers what each courier asks for.
- A JazzCash or Easypaisa business account for advances. For stitching and custom cakes, take part of the price before you start. A business account keeps those payments apart from household money. See how to open a JazzCash or Easypaisa business account.
- Your own SIM. A mobile wallet is tied to its phone number, and FBR registration needs a SIM registered on your own CNIC. A number in a husband’s or father’s name makes both harder.
- Keep a simple record. Orders sent, delivered, returned, and what the courier paid. Without it you will not know whether the business makes money.
Government loans and support
Schemes open, close and change terms. Everything below was checked on official sites on October 3, 2026. Apply only through those sites, and never pay an agent who promises to get a loan approved.
PM Youth Business and Agriculture Loan Scheme
This is the scheme formerly known as Kamyab Jawan. According to its official site, loans are given through 15 commercial, Islamic and SME banks in three tiers:
- Up to Rs 0.5 million at 0% markup.
- Above Rs 0.5 million up to Rs 1.5 million at 5% markup.
- Above Rs 1.5 million up to Rs 7.5 million at 7% markup.
Applicants must be Pakistani residents aged 21–45. For IT and e-commerce businesses the lower age limit is 18. Applications are online only, and the application form was live when we checked. The site does not set aside a separate tier for women. Before you borrow, put the amount and term into the loan markup calculator and check the instalment against what your business already earns.
SMEDA registration
SMEDA, the federal small business authority, runs a free SME Registration Portal. In a SMEDA announcement it says it is encouraging women and new businesses in particular to register, and that registered businesses can get business advice, training, trade fair exposure and links with banks.
Provincial schemes
Provinces run their own loan and support programmes, and these change with each budget. Start from your province’s business portal, linked from SMEDA’s site: Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If a scheme is only advertised on a Facebook page or a WhatsApp forward, treat it as fake until you find it on a .gov.pk site.
NTN basics
You do not need an NTN to make your first sale. You will want one when a courier asks for it for a business account, when you open a business bank account, or when your income means you have to file a return.
- For an individual, FBR says your 13-digit CNIC is used as your NTN.
- You register online on IRIS. FBR’s registration page lists what you need: your CNIC, a phone with a SIM registered on your own CNIC, and a personal email address of your own.
- Registering is not the same as being a filer. That comes from filing your return.
The step-by-step version is in our Urdu guide on how to make an NTN.
Your first two weeks
- Pick one product line and buy or make a small first batch.
- Choose a brand name, get a business SIM and set up WhatsApp Business on it.
- Photograph every piece on the same background, in daylight.
- Open a bank account in your name if you do not have one, then a courier account.
- Put the products in your store with prices, sizes and your dispatch days.
- Tell the people who already know you. Our guide to getting your first customers online covers what to do after that.

Questions people ask
Which business is best for women at home in Pakistan?
The one you already understand as a buyer. If you know fabric, start with unstitched suits or stitching. If you bake for family events, start with a few cakes for people you know. Pick something light that survives a courier, that you can buy or make in small batches, and that leaves a margin after courier and returned parcels.
Can I run an online business without showing my face?
Yes. Sell under a brand name, photograph the products on a plain background or on a hanger, and use a separate number for WhatsApp Business. Buyers care about the product, the price and whether the parcel arrives.
Is there a government loan for women to start a business in Pakistan?
The Prime Minister’s Youth Business and Agriculture Loan Scheme is open to Pakistani residents aged 21–45, or 18 and up for IT and e-commerce businesses. Its site lists loans up to Rs 500,000 at 0% markup, as checked on October 3, 2026. Apply only through the official site, pmybals.pmyp.gov.pk, and never pay anyone to apply for you.
Do I need an NTN to sell from home?
Not to start selling. You will need it when a courier or bank asks for it, or when your income reaches the point where you must file a return. For an individual, FBR uses your 13-digit CNIC as your NTN, and you register online on IRIS with a SIM and email in your own name.
How do women get paid for cash on delivery orders?
The courier collects the cash from the buyer and sends it to the bank account you gave when you opened your courier account. Give an account in your own name, so the money from your work lands with you. For custom orders, take an advance into a JazzCash or Easypaisa business account in your name.
Storelala is the Shopify alternative in Pakistan, and it runs from your phone. Your store lives at yourbrand.storelala.com under your brand, with cash on delivery, JazzCash, Easypaisa and card at checkout and no marketplace commission. You book PostEx, Leopards or TCS from the order screen, and the tracking number goes to your buyer on WhatsApp. It is free to start, with no card needed. Start your store and put your first batch online today.
