How to sell on Instagram in Pakistan: a seller’s guide
How to turn an Instagram page into orders in Pakistan, where Instagram Shop and in-app checkout are not available. Setting up the account and bio, highlights and reels that answer questions, handling DMs, confirming cash on delivery orders and getting real first followers.
Instagram is where a lot of Pakistani clothing, jewellery, cosmetics and home brands get seen first. What it does not do here is take the order or the money. This guide is about that whole path, from the account to the parcel leaving your house. If you prefer reading in Urdu, our older guide انسٹاگرام پر کاروبار covers the basics.
Is Instagram Shop available in Pakistan?
No. As of October 2026, Meta’s page of supported countries for Shops on Facebook and Instagram lists the United States, a group of open beta countries such as the UK, India and Singapore, and Ukraine and Indonesia with limited features. Pakistan is not on it. Meta’s commerce eligibility requirements also say the business must be located in a supported country.
That means, for a seller based here:
- No product tags on posts, and no Shop tab on your profile.
- No checkout inside Instagram. Nobody can pay you in the app.
- Every order happens outside Instagram: in DMs, on WhatsApp, or on your own store.
Plenty of guides still tell you to “set up Instagram Shopping”. Skip that step. Build the page so it sends buyers to a place where they can order.
Switch to a business account
Keep the shop separate from your personal account. Make a new account for the brand, then switch it to a professional account. Instagram’s help page lays out the steps: open settings from your profile, find Switch to professional account under For professionals, then choose Business and a category. It costs nothing.
What you get from it:
- Insights. Which posts and reels people watched, saved and shared.
- Contact buttons on your profile, so buyers can call or email you.
- Saved replies for the questions you get fifty times a day.
- Ads. You can boost a post or run ads later from the same account.
One catch: a professional account is public. If you switch an old private account, every old post becomes visible. Clean it first or start fresh.
Name, photo and bio
A buyer who taps your profile from a reel decides in a few seconds if you are a real business. Make those seconds count.
- Username: your brand name, short and easy to say on a phone call. Avoid dots and underscores in odd places, and numbers that look like a year.
- Photo: your logo or name, readable at the small size of a profile circle.
- Bio, line one: what you sell. “Unstitched lawn and ready-to-wear” beats “Fashion lover”.
- Bio, line two: “Cash on delivery all over Pakistan” if that is true for you.
- Bio, line three: how long dispatch takes, or your city.
- Link: where buyers order. More on this below.
Stuck on the wording? The free Instagram bio generator writes bios, captions and hashtags for clothing sellers from what you sell and where.
Highlights that answer questions
Highlights sit under your bio and stay there. Use them as the answers to the questions you would otherwise type out all day. Four is enough to start:
- Prices: a story per collection with the price clearly on it. Update it when prices change.
- Sizes: your size chart in inches, with how to measure. The size chart maker makes one you can screenshot.
- Delivery: which courier you use, how many days it takes, the delivery charge, and that the buyer pays at the door.
- Reviews: screenshots of real messages from buyers, with their names hidden, and photos they sent of the product.
Add an “Exchange” highlight once you have a policy: what you exchange, within how many days, and who pays the courier. Buyers ask this before they order, not after.
Posts and reels that sell
Your grid is your catalog. Reels are how new people find it. They need different things.
For the grid, each product should have a carousel:
- The full product, front on, colour true to life.
- A close-up of the fabric, print, stitching or finish.
- It worn or in use, so the buyer can judge size.
- A plain photo of everything that comes in the parcel.
A phone is enough if the light is right. Our guide to product photography at home covers window light, backgrounds and phone settings. Before you post, the watermark tool puts your name on the photos, which slows down pages that copy other sellers’ pictures.
For reels, film things a photo cannot show:
- How the fabric falls and moves.
- The real colour in daylight, next to the photo.
- One outfit styled three ways.
- An order being packed, with the buyer’s name blurred.
- A new stock drop being opened.
Keep reels short and say the product and price in the first seconds, on screen and in the caption. Post on a schedule you can keep. Three good posts a week for three months does more than ten in one day and then nothing.
Put the price on the post
“DM for price” is the most common habit on Pakistani shopping pages, and it costs sales. Plenty of buyers do not want to start a conversation just to find out if they can afford something. They scroll on. The ones who do message often just ask “price?” and disappear.
Write in every caption:
- The price in rupees, and whether delivery is included.
- Sizes or variants in stock.
- Fabric or material.
- How to order.
If you sell below the price of a nearby shop, a visible price is your best advert. If you sell above it, the photos and the reviews highlight have to explain why. Either way, hiding it helps no one. Work out a price that still pays after courier and returns with our guide on how to price products for online selling.
Answer DMs without losing the day
Even with prices on every post, “price?” comments and DMs will come. Fast replies close orders, and slow ones lose them to the next page the buyer saw. Some habits that help:
- Reply to “price?” comments in public, with the price, so the next person reading the comments does not ask again.
- Set up saved replies in your business settings: one for price and sizes, one for delivery time and charges, one for how to order, one for exchanges. Type a shortcut, send the full answer.
- Pick fixed times to clear DMs, such as morning, after lunch and evening, instead of answering every ping as it comes.
- Move serious buyers to a place built for orders. A page where they pick the size and enter the address saves you five back-and-forth messages.
Many buyers in Pakistan would rather talk on WhatsApp. The free WhatsApp order link generator makes a link that opens a chat with your number and a ready order message. Our guide to the WhatsApp Business catalog covers the other half of that setup.
Take the order, then confirm it
Whatever channel the order arrives on, you need the same five things before you pack:
- Full name.
- Full address, with area, nearby landmark and city.
- A phone number that answers.
- Product, size, colour and quantity.
- The total the buyer will pay at the door, delivery included.
Then confirm. Call or send a voice note from your number, read the order and the total back, and ask when someone will be home. A buyer who ordered on impulse from a reel at 1 am often changes their mind. Better to find out before you pay the courier both ways. Our guide on how to reduce COD returns has a call script and the signs of a fake order.
Book the parcel, then send the buyer the tracking number the same day. Keep one list of every order, with the courier and tracking number next to it. A notebook works for five orders a week. It does not work for five a day.
How buyers pay
With no checkout inside Instagram, the payment happens outside it. For most Instagram sellers here, that means cash on delivery: the courier collects at the door and sends you the money, minus their charges, on their payment cycle.
Some sellers ask for an advance transfer to a bank account, JazzCash or Easypaisa. It makes sense for:
- Custom or stitched-to-measure orders you cannot resell.
- High-value orders.
- A number that has refused a parcel from you before.
Asking every new buyer for an advance loses orders, since most do not know you yet. A common middle ground is asking for the delivery charge in advance on risky orders, so a refusal does not cost you the courier both ways.
Your own store in the bio
The link in your bio is the one place on Instagram you control. Point it at where buyers can order without waiting for you: your own store, with a page for each product showing photos, price, sizes and stock. The buyer picks a size, enters an address and places a cash on delivery order, at 1 am if they like. You see a list of orders in the morning instead of a pile of chats.
A store is also yours in a way an Instagram page is not. If the account gets hacked, restricted or loses reach, your products, prices and order history are still there. Set it up before you need it, not the week the account goes down.
Instagram also lets you add more than one link. Put your store first. Use the next ones for WhatsApp and, if you have one, a size guide.
Your first followers
Skip buying followers. They do not order, they make a page with a big number and few likes look suspicious, and they ruin your insights. Real ways to get the first few hundred:
- Start with people who already know you. Friends, family and old classmates, but ask them to share a post, not just follow.
- Post reels, not only photos. Reels can reach people who do not follow you yet. A reel about one product, done well, is your best free reach.
- Use location and specific hashtags, like your city plus your product, not a long block of generic ones.
- Put your handle on every parcel, on a card or the packing, and ask happy buyers to post and tag you.
- Work with small local creators, who often take products instead of a fee. Ask to see their story views first.
- Run a small ad on your best reel once you know it works organically. Our guide on running Facebook and Instagram ads covers the first campaign, the budget and paying Meta from Pakistan.

Questions sellers ask
Is Instagram Shop available in Pakistan?
No. As of October 2026, Pakistan is not on Meta’s list of supported countries for Shops on Facebook and Instagram, and being located in a supported country is one of Meta’s commerce eligibility requirements. Pakistani sellers cannot tag products or take payment inside Instagram. They show products on Instagram and take orders by DM, WhatsApp or their own store.
Can I sell on Instagram without a website?
Yes. Many sellers start with DMs and WhatsApp only. It works for a few orders a day. Past that, orders get lost in chats, and you spend hours asking for sizes and addresses. A store with a page per product lets the buyer choose the size and enter the address themselves.
How do I make an Instagram business account?
Open settings from your profile and tap Switch to professional account under For professionals. Choose Business, pick a category and add your contact details. It is free. If the account was private, switching makes it public.
Should I write the price in the post or say DM for price?
Write it. Many buyers will not send a message just to learn the price, and scroll on. A visible price also cuts the number of DMs you have to answer, and the ones that do come are from people closer to buying.
How do Instagram sellers in Pakistan take payment?
Mostly cash on delivery, collected by the courier at the door. Some sellers ask for a bank, JazzCash or Easypaisa transfer in advance, usually only for high-value or custom orders, or for a buyer who refused a parcel before.
Is it worth buying followers to look established?
No. Bought followers do not buy anything. They make a page with 10,000 followers and 15 likes per post look odd to a real buyer, and they make your own insights useless because you cannot tell what your real audience likes.
