Fabric calculator
Convert gaz, meter, yard, foot and inch both ways. Then pick the garment, size and fabric width to see how much cloth a suit needs, what it costs you and what to charge. Here gaz means cloth length, not land.
Questions
1 gaz kitne meter ka hota hai?
For cloth, 1 gaz is 1 yard, which is exactly 0.9144 meters (91.44 cm, or 3 feet). The yard was fixed at 0.9144 m by the 1959 international yard and pound agreement. So 2 gaz is 1.8288 m, 2.5 gaz is 2.286 m, 3 gaz is 2.7432 m, 4 gaz is 3.6576 m and 5 gaz is 4.572 m. 1 meter is about 1.094 gaz. Shopkeepers often round 1 gaz to 0.9 m or 1 m, so ask which one they mean when you compare prices.
Ek suit kitne meter ka hota hai?
A ladies unstitched 3-piece suit is normally cut as 2.5–3 m for the shirt, 2.5 m for the trouser and 2.5 m for the dupatta, so about 7.5–8 m or 8–9 gaz in total. Brand and marketplace listings of lawn suits state 3.0 m shirt, 2.5 m trouser and 2.5 m dupatta, and a Khaadi khaddar listing states 2.5 m for each piece. A 2-piece suit has no dupatta, so about 5–5.5 m. Longer shirts, wider cuts and tall customers need more, which the calculator shows.
Mardana suit kitne meter ka hota hai?
A men’s shalwar kameez suit is usually sold as 4–4.5 m of fabric about 52–54 inches wide, which is about 4.4–4.9 gaz. Wash and wear suit lengths on Pakistani listings are 4 m and 4.5 m. Of that, roughly 2 m goes into the kameez and 2.2–2.5 m into the shalwar. On narrower 44 inch cloth you need about 5 m or more. A kurta alone takes about 2 m on wide cloth.
Ladies suit, salwar suit and frock suit kitne meter ka hota hai?
A ladies shirt with shalwar or trouser is about 5 m without the dupatta and 7.5 m with it, on 44 inch cloth. A long frock or anarkali uses much more because of the flare, about 4–5 m for the frock alone. Pick the garment in the calculator and change the size, sleeves and width to match your tailor’s advice.
Does fabric width change how many meters I need?
Yes. Wider cloth needs fewer meters. A suit that takes 5 m of 44 inch cloth takes about 4.1 m of 54 inch cloth, because the length needed is roughly in proportion to the width. The calculator scales the shirt and the shalwar or trouser by width. The dupatta stays the same.
How do I convert kg of fabric to meters?
Meters = kg x 1,000 / (GSM x width in meters). GSM is the weight of one square meter of the cloth, which is usually printed on the roll or the supplier’s sheet. For example, 10 kg of 150 GSM cloth that is 44 inches (1.1176 m) wide is about 59.7 m.
Does gaz also mean land?
Yes. In property, a gaz is a square yard of land, which is 0.8361 square meters. That is a different thing from a gaz of cloth, which is a length. This calculator converts cloth length only.
Are these figures exact?
The conversions are exact. The fabric amounts are typical tailoring figures and the lengths brands cut for unstitched suits, not a rule. Your tailor, the design and the cut change them, so every norm is editable under the suit calculator. Buy a little extra if the print needs matching.
