Questions
How do I calculate a discount in percent?
Multiply the price by the percentage and divide by 100. That is the saving. Take it off the price to get the sale price. For 20% off Rs 1,500: 1,500 × 20 / 100 = Rs 300 off, so the sale price is Rs 1,200.
How do I find the percentage off from two prices?
Choose Sale price in the calculator and enter the original and sale price. By hand, subtract the sale price from the original, divide by the original and multiply by 100. Rs 1,500 down to Rs 1,200 is 300 / 1,500 = 20% off.
Rs 200 off or 15% off, which is better?
It depends on the price. 15% of Rs 1,500 is Rs 225, so 15% beats Rs 200 off. On a Rs 1,000 item, 15% is only Rs 150 and Rs 200 off wins. The lower the price, the better a fixed Rs amount looks. The comparison box does this for your price.
How many more orders do I need after a discount?
Divide your old profit per order by your new profit per order. If you earned Rs 450 and now earn Rs 150, you need three times as many orders, which is 200% more, just to make the same total profit. The calculator does this when you enter a cost price.
What is the most discount I can give?
Your profit per order divided by the original price. Cost Rs 900 plus Rs 150 courier and packaging on a Rs 1,500 item leaves Rs 450, so 30% off takes you to zero profit. Stay well under it, because returned parcels and ads cost you too.
What should I put as courier and packaging?
The courier charge you pay per parcel and the cost of the box, bag and tape. If the customer pays delivery separately, leave it at zero. For returns and ads, use the COD profit calculator.
Why show a price ending in 99 or a round 50?
Many shops price at 1,199 rather than 1,200, and some prefer round numbers like 1,250 because they are easy to say on WhatsApp. Both work. Pick one and keep it across your store. The calculator shows the discount you actually give after rounding.
When should I run a sale?
Common times are Eid, Ramadan, Independence Day on 14 August, 11.11, 12.12 and Black Friday. Eid and Ramadan dates move each year, so check the date before you plan. Work out the most you can give here first, then set the sale below it.
Does this include GST or delivery charges?
No. Enter the price the customer pays for the product. The calculator does not add tax or delivery to the sale price.
