For your own stock and your own counter, use Code 128. It takes any SKU you invent, letters and numbers both, and every scanner reads it. Use EAN-13 only when you already have a GS1 number for the product. UPC-A is the 12-digit American version and mostly matters for exports. QR holds a link or longer text and is read by phones.

The last digit is worked out from the digits before it, so a scanner can tell when a digit was misread. Type 12 digits for EAN-13 (11 for UPC-A) and the tool adds the last digit. Type all 13 and it checks yours and tells you what the last digit should be if it is wrong.

896 is the prefix GS1 gives to Pakistan, so a number beginning 896 was issued by GS1 Pakistan. The prefix shows who issued the number, not where the product was made. Source: the GS1 prefix list.

No. 870–879 belong to GS1 Netherlands. A product sold in Pakistan can still carry one, for example when it is imported, or when a brand got its numbers through a foreign GS1 office or a reseller. We found no source saying Pakistani products commonly use 871, so treat the prefix as the issuing office only.

Apply to GS1 Pakistan (gs1pk.org, Karachi). You send an application form and pay an entrance fee and an annual fee, and you get a company prefix, which is the start of every code you make. The fee depends on how many codes you need. We do not quote a price because the figures online were old copies, so ask GS1 Pakistan for its current fee schedule. Check what a reseller sells before you pay: codes sold singly are often not registered to your business.

When the barcode is only used by you: stock counting, a counter scanner, labelled shelves and parcels you pack yourself. Nobody else needs to look the number up, so you do not need a GS1 number.

Daraz’s product form asks for a Seller SKU, which is a unique code you choose yourself, so a Code 128 SKU from this tool works there. We could not find a Daraz rule that every product needs a GS1 code, and it can differ by category, so check Seller Center for yours. Supermarket chains and some other retailers do ask for GS1 barcodes on the pack, so ask the buyer before you print a batch.

Bars are drawn to the standard widths with the blank margin at each side. Print black on white at 100% size, do not shrink the sheet to fit, and scan one label with your own scanner or phone before you print a whole sheet. Thermal printers should be set to the label size.

Choose your sheet or label size, press Print, and pick your printer. To get a PDF, choose Save as PDF as the printer. Sticker packs differ a little between brands, so measure yours against the size shown and turn off Fit to page.

No. The barcodes are drawn in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. Your store name, barcode type and label size are remembered on this device, so you do not retype them. Your product list is not. Reset to defaults clears them.
