Dropshipping in Pakistan: how it works with COD (2026)
Dropshipping in Pakistan that makes money is local and runs on cash on delivery. Here is how an order actually moves from supplier to buyer, who gets paid when, who carries the cost of a refused parcel, and how to test a supplier before you spend on ads.
How dropshipping in Pakistan actually works
Most guides describe dropshipping the way it works in America: a buyer pays by card, you order from China, the parcel turns up weeks later. That is not what works here. Dropshipping in Pakistan that makes money is local and runs on cash on delivery.
A normal order goes like this:
- A buyer orders from your store and chooses cash on delivery.
- You confirm the order with the buyer by phone or WhatsApp.
- You pass the order to your supplier, a wholesaler or small maker with the stock.
- The supplier packs it, ideally with no invoice or flyer of their own inside, and hands it to a courier.
- The rider collects the cash from the buyer at the door.
- The courier pays the cash to whoever booked the parcel, and the money is split.
The buyer sees your store and your name on the parcel. You never touch the product. That is the whole appeal, and it is also where every problem comes from.
The two ways orders run
Before you list a single product, settle one question with the supplier: whose courier account is the parcel booked on? Everything else follows from that.
The supplier books the courier. This is how most reseller apps and many wholesalers work. You send the order with the price you charged. The supplier ships it on their courier account, the courier pays them the cash, and they send you your margin after delivery. You need no courier account and no money upfront. You also depend on the supplier to pay you, you cannot see the courier’s report yourself, and you usually cannot choose the courier.
You book the courier. You open your own COD account with a courier, pay the supplier the wholesale price, and the supplier hands your parcel to your courier, or you book it from their address. The cash comes to you. You control tracking, returns and which courier you use. You also pay for stock before the buyer pays you, and you carry every return. Our comparison of the best courier service in Pakistan for online business covers how fast each courier pays back and what returns cost.
Most sellers start with the first and move to the second once they know which products sell and trust the supplier.
Where the money goes on one order
Your margin is not your sale price minus the supplier’s price. Out of every order you pay for, or share:
- The supplier’s price for the product, sometimes with a packing fee on top.
- The courier charge, and on refused parcels often the trip back too.
- Ads, which for most dropshippers is the biggest cost per order.
- Returned parcels, which earn nothing but still cost delivery and ads.
Ask the supplier in writing who pays the courier charge on a refused parcel, and who pays the trip back. On many reseller deals the return charge is taken from your next payout, so a week of refusals can wipe out a week of profit.
Run your numbers before you pick a price. The profit margin calculator shows your margin and markup on the supplier’s price, and the COD profit calculator shows what is left after courier, ads and returns, and the highest return rate you can afford.
The real risks
- Returns on COD. A buyer can refuse the parcel at the door at no cost to them. You paid for the ad and the delivery. This is the risk that ends most dropshipping stores, not competition.
- Stock runs out. The supplier sells the same stock to other resellers and their own buyers. You take an order, they tell you two days later it is finished, and you cancel on a buyer you paid an ad to get.
- Quality you never see. The supplier can send a different colour, a weaker batch or a damaged piece. The buyer blames your store, not them.
- Slow payouts. If the supplier books the courier, your money waits on the courier paying them and then on them paying you. Ask exactly when and how they pay, and watch whether they keep to it.
- The same product everywhere. Popular reseller products are listed by many stores at once, often with the same photos. Buyers compare and pick the cheapest.
How to test a supplier before you sell
- Order a sample to your own address, as a buyer would get it. Check the product, the packing, and whether anything inside shows the supplier’s name.
- Send a few test orders to friends in other cities. Note how many days each one takes from order to door.
- Ask how they tell you about stock. A supplier who shares a daily stock list or updates you before a product runs out saves you cancelled orders.
- Get the money terms in writing. Who books the courier, when you get paid, who pays for a refused parcel, and what happens with a damaged or wrong item.
- Start with a handful of real orders. Check every one arrived and was paid before you spend more on ads.
A supplier who will not sell you a sample or put payment terms in a message is telling you how the first problem will go.
Why AliExpress dropshipping is hard for Pakistani buyers
The courses that teach dropshipping usually mean AliExpress. For a store selling to buyers in Pakistan, three things stand in the way. According to WorldFirst’s AliExpress guide for Pakistan (as of October 2026):
- Delivery takes weeks. Most orders reach Pakistan in 15–45 days depending on the shipping method.
- No cash on delivery. COD is rarely offered on cross-border orders, so you pay by card upfront while your buyer expects to pay at the door.
- Customs and tax. Orders entering Pakistan are charged customs duty and 18% sales tax when they clear customs.
A Pakistani buyer who orders on cash on delivery and waits a month is very likely to refuse the parcel. Selling to buyers abroad from Pakistan is a different business, with card payments and foreign ads, and is not what this guide covers.
Dropshipping on Daraz
Many people search for dropshipping in Pakistan on Daraz. Daraz is a marketplace with its own seller rules on shipping times, cancellations and product quality, set out in Daraz Seller Center. Read them before you list. On a marketplace, a supplier who ships late or runs out of stock counts against your seller account, not theirs. Daraz also charges its own fees per order, which you can work through in the Daraz profit calculator.
Is dropshipping halal?
Many people search for the Islamic ruling on dropshipping (ڈراپ شپنگ کا شرعی حکم). Scholars discuss it because the standard model sells a product you do not own or hold. Some fatwas, such as this answer on IslamQA in Urdu, say the standard model is not allowed and describe other ways to set it up, such as acting as the supplier’s agent for a commission. Sellers who care about this ask a scholar they trust.
Where your store fits
Whoever ships, the orders come in through your store. On Storelala, buyers pay by cash on delivery, JazzCash, Easypaisa or a debit or credit card, chosen at checkout. If you book the parcel yourself, PostEx, Leopards and TCS are booked right from the order screen and the tracking number goes to your buyer on WhatsApp. Whoever books it, keep the tracking number with the order, so you can see where each parcel is and match payouts to orders. When a supplier says an order was delivered, you have the tracking number to check.

Questions sellers ask
Can I start dropshipping in Pakistan for free?
You can open a store for free and you hold no stock, so the cost to start is low. It is not zero. You will want to buy samples of what you sell, and most sellers pay for ads to get the first orders. Returned parcels also cost money, so keep some cash aside before you scale.
How much money do I need to start dropshipping in Pakistan?
Enough to buy one sample of each product you list, run a small ad test, and cover a few returned parcels. The exact amount depends on your product price and your ad cost per order. Put your own numbers into a COD profit calculator to see how many returns you can absorb before you lose money.
Is dropshipping legal in Pakistan?
Having a supplier ship for you is a way of arranging delivery. What matters is the same as for any online seller: the product must be legal to sell, it must match what you showed the buyer, and you are responsible for the order even though you never touched it. Ask a tax adviser about registration once your sales grow.
Is dropshipping halal or haram?
Scholars discuss it because the standard model sells something you do not yet own. Some fatwas say that model is not allowed and describe other ways to set it up, such as working as the supplier’s agent for a commission. This is a question for a scholar you trust, not for a store guide.
Which is better in Pakistan, local or international dropshipping?
For buyers in Pakistan, local. A local supplier can ship in days and the courier collects cash on delivery. AliExpress orders to Pakistan take weeks, cash on delivery is rarely offered, and customs duty and sales tax are charged when the parcel enters the country.
What does dropshipping mean in Urdu?
Dropshipping kya hai: you sell a product online, and a supplier who holds the stock packs and sends it to your buyer for you. You set the price and get the order. The supplier keeps the stock and ships.
