Instagram carousel splitter

Add a wide photo, choose 2 to 10 slides and move the picture until the cuts fall where you want. Scrub across the seams to see how it swipes, then save the slides in order, or all of them in a zip.

Save the slides

Upload them to one Instagram post in the order of their numbers. Tap a slide to save just that one.

Files are named slide-1-of-4, slide-2-of-4 and so on (slide-01-of-10 from ten slides up), so they sort in the order you post them.

Questions

How do I split a panorama for an Instagram carousel?

Add the wide photo, choose how many slides you want, and drag the photo until the dashed cut lines sit where you like. Save the slides, then upload them to one post in the order of their numbers.

What size are the slides?

Each slide is 1080 × 1350 pixels, which is the 4:5 portrait size, or 1080 × 1080 if you pick square. The slides are cut from one wide canvas, so the picture carries across the cuts.

How many slides can a carousel have?

Instagram allows up to 20 photos and videos in one carousel. This page makes 2 to 10 slides at a time, which is the range that works well for one wide photo.

What does the seam check do?

It moves a window across the cuts, the way a viewer swipes, so you can see if a face or a product is split in half. If it is, drag the photo a little and check again.

What if my photo is not wide enough?

The photo is scaled to fill every slide with no gaps, so a tall photo is cropped top and bottom. A wide photo, at least twice as wide as it is tall, gives the best result.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The slides are cut inside your browser, and the photo never leaves your device.
