    Questions

    What is volumetric weight?

It is the weight a courier bills for the space your box takes up. Multiply length, width and height in centimetres and divide by 5,000. A light box that is big can be billed as if it were heavy.

    What is chargeable weight?

The higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight, rounded up to the courier’s weight step. A 1 kg parcel in a box that works out to 3 kg is billed as 3 kg.

    Why does box size matter?

Every extra kilogram on the bill is paid on every parcel. A big box for a shirt, or a big carton for a small bottle, can double the courier charge. A snug box, or a poly mailer for soft items, keeps the bill down.

Do all couriers divide by 5,000?

Most use 5000, but some use a different number or have their own box rules. Ask your courier, and use the same box size on every parcel so the charge stays predictable.

Where do the prefilled rates come from?

They are copied from rate lists published online, which may be out of date. Cash on delivery rates differ by account and volume, and some couriers, such as PostEx, give each seller their own rates. Replace every number with the rate on your own agreement.

What are the COD fee and fuel surcharge?

Some couriers take a fee for collecting cash, as a share of the order amount, and some add a fuel charge on top of the freight. Both vary by courier and account, so enter yours. Leave them at 0 if your rate already includes them.

    Does it remember my rates?

Yes. The weight, box size and every rate you change are kept in this browser, so you do not retype them. Nothing is sent to us. Press Reset to go back to the prefilled example.

What does a returned parcel cost?

Usually the courier charges for the return trip as well. The COD profit calculator on this site takes your return rate and return charge into account.
