Guide
Ramadan business ideas in Pakistan you can run from home
Products to sell online in Ramadan and for Eid from home on cash on delivery: dates and dry fruit, frozen samosas and rolls, iftar gift boxes, prayer mats and books, and Chand Raat items. Then when to buy stock and shoot photos, how to handle courier cut-offs before Eid, and when to confirm orders while buyers are fasting.
Ramadan changes what people buy for a month: dates on the iftar table, food in the freezer for sehri, gifts for family, and then everything for Eid. Each idea below is a product you can sell from home on cash on delivery, with a link to the full guide where we have one.
Dates and dry fruit
Khajoor is on the iftar table every day of Ramadan, so a buyer who likes your dates in the first week can order again before the month ends. Sell by weight in clear packs, name the variety and the origin on the label, and photograph the actual dates, not a stock image. Dry fruit sells beside it for gifting and for Eid.
Grades, sourcing, packing and storage are in the guide to the dry fruit business.
Sehri and iftar food
Two kinds of food work from a home kitchen. Fresh iftar items, delivered in your own city the same day. And frozen items, like samosas, rolls, kebabs and spring rolls, made in batches and sold by the dozen so the buyer fries them at home at iftar.
- Frozen items let you cook on fixed days and deliver on others.
- Keep delivery to your own city, where you control how long the parcel is out of the freezer.
- Take orders a day ahead and put a cut-off time on your store.
On licences: Punjab Food Authority says an application is made when a food business starts, and Sindh Food Authority issues licences in Sindh. Ask your own provincial authority what applies to a home kitchen. The details and links are in the home food business guide.
Iftar gift boxes and hampers
A box with dates, dry fruit, a sherbet bottle and a card is something people send to family, in-laws and staff. Make two or three fixed boxes at clear prices instead of a custom box for every order, and photograph each one open and closed. If you want orders from offices buying for their staff, put a line on the store asking businesses to message you for quantities.
Packing, box costs and fillers are covered in the gift box business guide.
Prayer mats, tasbeeh and Islamic books
Describe these plainly. For a prayer mat: size in inches, material, thickness, and whether it folds. For a tasbeeh: bead material, count and length. For books: title, author, publisher, language, page count and binding. A clear photo of the cover and one inside page tells the buyer more than any description.
These pair well as a gift set with a mat, a tasbeeh and a small book. For sourcing and packing books, see the books business guide.
Eid clothes and Chand Raat items
The second half of Ramadan is Eid shopping. Three products sell from home without a shop:
- Unstitched suits, which buyers need early enough to get stitched before Eid.
- Bangles, matched to the Eid outfit and sold in sets by size.
- Mehndi cones, ordered for Chand Raat.
Unstitched suits sell earliest because of tailoring time. Bangles and mehndi can sell up to your last delivery date. Running a sale on these is its own job, and the Eid sale guide covers offers, last order dates and exchanges.
Timing: start weeks early
Wikipedia’s Ramadan page lists Ramadan 1448 from about February 8 to March 8, 2027. Pakistan announces the start and Eid after the moon is sighted, so use these as estimates.
Work back from the first fast:
- Stock: buy before Ramadan, while suppliers have it and before prices move.
- Photos: shoot every product before Ramadan. Fasting days are short on energy and daylight.
- Store: product pages, prices and delivery charges live before the first fast, so you sell from day one.
- Eid items: listed from the start of Ramadan, not the last week.
Courier cut-offs before Eid
Couriers stop pickups at some point before Eid and close for the holidays. The dates change each year and by courier, so ask yours for their last pickup before Eid and the days they are closed. Then set your own last order date a few days before their cut-off, and write it on your store and in your posts. An order that arrives after Eid can come back to you unpaid.
To compare delivery charges between couriers, use the courier charges calculator.
Ramadan hours and order confirmations
The day moves in Ramadan: sehri before dawn, iftar at sunset, taraweeh after it, and office hours change. A confirmation message sent mid-morning can sit unread until evening. Send confirmations after iftar or after taraweeh, and answer messages then too.
Ready-to-send messages for confirming COD orders are in order confirmation messages for WhatsApp.
Pricing
Ramadan stock costs more to buy and more to pack: gift boxes, ribbon, ice packs for frozen food. Add every cost per unit, then the delivery charge and a share for returned COD parcels, before you set the price. The profit margin calculator shows what you keep at a given price, and the COD profit calculator includes returns.
Questions sellers ask
What business can I start from home in Ramadan?
Products buyers need only in this month: dates and dry fruit, frozen samosas and rolls, iftar gift boxes, prayer mats and tasbeeh, and Eid items like bangles, mehndi and unstitched suits. All of them can be sold online on cash on delivery from home.
When is Ramadan 2027?
Wikipedia’s Ramadan page lists Ramadan 1448 from about February 8 to March 8, 2027. In Pakistan the start and Eid are announced after the moon is sighted, so treat these as estimates and plan on the early side.
When should I start preparing for a Ramadan business?
Before Ramadan starts. Stock, photos and product pages should be ready so you are selling from the first day, not shooting photos while orders wait.
What is the last date to send Eid orders?
It depends on your courier. Ask them for their last pickup before Eid and their holiday dates, then set your own last order date a few days earlier and show it on your store.
Do I need a food licence to sell iftar food from home?
Punjab Food Authority says a licence application is made when a food business starts, and Sindh Food Authority issues licences in Sindh. Ask your provincial food authority what applies to a home kitchen.
