How to get reviews from customers in Pakistan
When to ask a buyer for a review on cash on delivery, the exact WhatsApp message in English and Roman Urdu, and how to get a photo or voice note instead of “very nice”. Then permission and hiding the number before you post, where reviews go, Google’s rules on asking, and what to do when the answer is bad.
A new buyer cannot touch the fabric or see the stitching. What they can see is what earlier buyers said: a screenshot, a photo of the suit on a real person, a voice note saying the colour was exactly like the picture. Those do not appear by themselves. You ask for them, at the right time, in words that are easy to answer.
When to ask: after they have used it, not when the rider leaves
On cash on delivery, delivery is not the end of the order. The buyer has paid the rider, but they have not worn the suit, washed the bedsheet or tried the cream. A review asked for at the door is about the parcel. A review asked for after use is about the product, and that is the one the next buyer wants.
- Day of delivery: the thank-you message. It closes the order and says where to come if something is wrong. Our order confirmation messages include one in English and Roman Urdu.
- A few days later: the review ask below. Wait until the product has had a fair use: one wear for clothes, one wash for a bedsheet, a week of use for skincare.
- Never while a complaint is open. Fix it first. Ask afterwards, if it ended well.
Ask every buyer, not only the ones who sounded happy. If you only ask friendly buyers, you never hear about the stitching problem until it is in a comment under your post.
The message to send
Send it in the same chat the order came from, so the buyer knows who you are. Use their name and the item. Ask about the product in plain words, and make the smallest answer acceptable.
In English
In Roman Urdu
“Good or bad” matters. It tells the buyer you want the truth, and it gives an unhappy buyer a private place to say so before they say it in your comments.
If there is no reply after two or three days, send one reminder and then leave it:
Save both as quick replies in WhatsApp Business and label chats where you have asked, so you do not ask the same buyer twice. Keep this to buyers who ordered; asking for reviews is not a reason to add people to broadcast lists. Our guide to WhatsApp marketing covers lists, opt-outs and why that number is worth protecting.
Ask for a photo or a voice note
A line of text saying “very nice” convinces nobody. Three things do much more:
- A photo of the product in use. The suit worn, the bedsheet on their bed, the cake on the table. It shows the real colour in real light, which your own photos cannot prove.
- A voice note. A buyer who will not type a paragraph may still send ten seconds of voice. In their own words, shared with permission, it is hard to fake and easy to believe.
- The specific detail. “The fabric did not shrink after washing” or “size chart was exact” answers the question your next buyer is about to ask.
If a buyer sends a long, happy message, reply with thanks and ask one follow-up: “Would you send a photo of it on?” Do not ask them to pose or rewrite anything.
Get permission before you post a screenshot
The buyer wrote to you, not to your followers. Ask before you post, every time:
Then, before you post:
- Hide the number at the top of the chat. Crop it out or cover it fully with a solid block, not a blur.
- Hide the name and profile photo unless the buyer said you can show them.
- Check the rest of the chat for an address, a city area, a family name or an order number.
- Leave the words alone. Do not edit spelling, cut the bad half of a mixed review, or retype it neatly. A cropped real screenshot reads as real. A typed one reads as made up.
If a buyer later asks you to take their review down, take it down. Keep a note of who agreed, so you know which screenshots you can use again.
Where to put reviews
- An Instagram highlight called Reviews. Post each one as a story, then add it to the highlight so it stays under your bio. Our guide to selling on Instagram has the other highlights worth setting up.
- Next to the product. When a buyer photo shows a piece you still stock, post it with that piece, so someone looking at it sees it worn.
- WhatsApp status. Status goes to people who saved your number, which is where a new review does the most good.
- A card in the parcel. A thank-you line and a QR code to your Instagram, made with the free QR code generator, gives the buyer somewhere to tag you when they post it.
- One folder on your phone. Keep every approved screenshot, photo and voice note in one album, by product. When a buyer asks “is the fabric good?” in a DM, you send two real answers instead of your own word.
Add new ones as they come and drop old ones for pieces you no longer sell. A reviews highlight full of last year’s stock does not help anyone.
Google reviews, if you have a Business Profile
Google reviews belong to a Google Business Profile, and not every online seller can have one. Google’s rules say buyers must meet the business, for example by collecting from you or having you or your rider deliver in your city. If every parcel goes by courier to other cities, see the section on Business Profiles in our guide to getting your store on Google before you make one.
If you have a profile, Google’s own steps to get the review link, as of October 2026:
- Go to your Business Profile.
- Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews.
- Copy the link, or save the QR code.
Google’s help page says the review QR code can only be made from a computer browser, not on a phone. The QR code can go on the card in your parcel. The link goes at the end of your review message, for every buyer you ask:
Send the link to everyone you ask, before you know what they think. Google’s content policy forbids businesses to “selectively solicit positive reviews from customers” or to discourage negative ones. Sending the Google link only to buyers who already said they were happy is exactly that.
You cannot delete a Google review. Google’s page on managing reviews says you can reply to it, and flag it if you believe it breaks Google’s content policies.
When the answer is a complaint or a bad review
Asking every buyer means some answers will be bad. That is the point: a complaint in your WhatsApp is one you can fix before it is a comment. Treat it as a complaint, not a review. Thank them for telling you, ask for photos and the order details, and fix it. Our guide to handling customer complaints has the reply for each case, and how to answer a bad review in public.
Two rules specific to reviews:
- Do not ask a buyer to remove or change a review in exchange for anything. On Google, that is the incentive the policy forbids. Fix the problem. If the buyer is happy at the end, they may update it on their own.
- Read the bad ones twice. If three buyers say the same thing about the same piece, the problem is the piece, the photo or the size chart, not the buyers.
A mixed review posted honestly, with how you fixed it, shows the next buyer what happens when something goes wrong. A wall of praise cannot show that.
Never buy, swap or fake reviews
Google’s help page on getting more reviews is direct: offering “free or discounted goods or services, in exchange for customers to post reviews, change reviews, or remove negative reviews is considered fake & misleading content and is strictly prohibited”, and it can lead to restrictions on your Business Profile. Its content policy also lists reviews “paid for, directly or in kind” as fake engagement.
Outside Google, the same things still backfire:
- Screenshots you typed yourself or chats from a second phone. One mismatched font, time or phrase and every screenshot in the highlight is in doubt.
- Friends and family posing as buyers. If they bought, they can say they bought. They should not pretend to be strangers.
- “Discount for a 5-star review”. A discount for coming back is fine. A discount for praise buys you praise you cannot trust, and it reads that way.
If you have few reviews, show fewer real ones. A highlight with six genuine screenshots beats one with sixty that look the same.
Questions sellers ask
How do I get reviews from customers?
Ask every buyer, a few days after delivery once they have used the product, in the same WhatsApp chat they ordered on. Ask one easy question about the product, ask for a photo or voice note, and ask permission before you post anything. Send at most one reminder.
How can I collect reviews from customers for free?
A WhatsApp message costs nothing, and neither do an Instagram highlight or a Google Business Profile review link. Save the ask as a quick reply in WhatsApp Business, save every reply with permission in one folder, and post the best ones to a Reviews highlight.
How do I ask a customer for feedback on WhatsApp?
Use their name and the item, ask how it was in plain words, and make it easy to answer: one line, a photo or a voice note is enough. Ask for honest feedback, good or bad, so the buyer knows a complaint is welcome too.
Can I give a discount in exchange for a review?
Not on Google. Its policy calls discounts or free goods for posting, changing or removing a review fake content, and it can restrict your Business Profile. Anywhere else, a review you paid for is not a review, and buyers can tell.
Can I post a customer’s WhatsApp message as a review?
Only after asking them, and with their number and, unless they say otherwise, their name hidden. Crop or cover the top of the screenshot and anything else that shows who they are, such as their address or profile photo.
How do I get Google reviews for my online store?
Only if you have a Google Business Profile, which Google allows when buyers meet you, for example when they collect from you or you deliver in your city yourself. Then copy the review link from the profile and send it to every buyer you ask, not only the happy ones.
